Keeping hydrated is important for maintaining optimal performance, both physically & mentally. So how much water do we need to drink to keep ourselves hydrated?
In your daily routine, not including exercise, you should aim for an average of 240ml every hour for the first 10 hours after waking, then 120ml thereafter.
During exercise this is 2ml/kg of body weight every 15-20 mins.
This is non-caffeinated or alcoholic fluid, due to the diuretic effect these have. You can get more details on this by watching the Water & Your Health episode of the Huberman Lab Podcast, hosted by Andrew Huberman, Ph.D.
